Why I built it.
My wife and I joined a speaking club, and the part of the evening everyone dreads is Table Topics: a question you haven’t seen, and a minute or two to answer it on your feet. We tested each other at home, and couldn’t find many good questions to practise with, so I built somewhere to find them.
It grew from there. It’s now built for job interviews, being put on the spot in meetings, speaking English at work and university vivas, as well as speaking clubs.
How I built it.
Everything a serious app needs, built once and released everywhere.
-
One app, three places
Built with Expo and React Native, so the same code runs on iPhone, Android and in the browser, and one account works on all of them.
-
It listens to your answer
Your two minutes are recorded and played back, then measured for pace in words a minute, with every um and erm counted.
-
Feedback you can use
Rather than a wall of notes, you get one thing to try next time. Pro adds full coaching on structure and delivery.
-
Over 2,000 prompts
Sorted by theme and level, with new ones every week, plus free tools on the site that don’t need a sign-up.
-
Subscriptions on every platform
Pro can be bought through the App Store, Google Play or the web, with sign-in with Apple and Google.
-
Private by default
Accounts and data run on Supabase with row-level security on every table, so people can only ever reach their own answers.
Feedback that’s honest, and kind.
Try it.
Learn to Speak Easy works in your browser on a phone or a computer, and there are apps for iPhone on the App Store and Android on Google Play. One prompt a day, with feedback, is free for as long as you like, and your first week of Pro is free too.
