What hosting actually is.
Every website is a collection of files, and those files have to live on a computer that’s switched on and connected to the internet around the clock. That computer is called a server, and hosting is renting space on a good one. No hosting, no website: type in your address and nothing answers.
Think of your domain name as the sign, your website as the shop, and hosting as the premises. It’s the part nobody notices until something’s wrong with it, and cheap premises are why some sites feel slow, fall over on busy days, or get broken into.
“Managed” means the premises are my problem: enterprise-grade servers, a firewall in front, daily off-site backups, and me keeping watch. You never log in to anything, and when something needs doing, it’s done before you hear about it.
And what a care plan adds.
Hosting keeps the site up. A care plan is somebody minding it. WordPress updates, its plugins update, and the people trying to break into websites never stop finding new ways in. A site left alone rarely fails dramatically: it quietly rots. A form stops sending, a plugin falls out of date, everything slows down, and one morning it’s gone and nobody knows why.
A care plan is the service history that stops that happening: updates applied and checked rather than left on automatic, security watched and the clean-up handled if the worst does happen, speed kept where it was on launch day. And it comes with my time, every month, for the amendments and additions you’d otherwise sit on.
What it isn’t: a redesign, a new section, or a fresh build. Those are projects, and I’ll quote them as projects rather than quietly absorbing them and then resenting it.

Every plan runs on the same managed hosting. Host covers the day-to-day upkeep; each plan above it adds more of my time each month for changes, and a quicker reply.

Keeping the plugins and everything else in order on a site I didn’t build isn’t always simple, so if you’d like me to look after all of it, a Care plan is usually the least I’d recommend. If you’d rather keep on top of the upkeep yourself, Host is all you need.
The small print.
- All prices exclude VAT.
- Included hours reset every month and don’t roll over.
- Included hours cover amendments, content updates and minor changes. Anything bigger I’ll quote separately, so you always know the number first.
- Plans cover a typical business website. A high-traffic, e-commerce or resource-hungry site may need an upgraded plan, which I’ll quote individually.
- Three months minimum, then it rolls on monthly with 30 days’ notice either way.
Easy in, easy out.
Monthly plans run for three months to begin with, because a month isn’t long enough to be worth either of us setting up. After that it simply rolls on, and either of us can give 30 days’ notice. That’s the whole of it. If you do leave, the site is yours and I’ll help you move it: a care plan that only keeps you because leaving is painful isn’t a care plan.
