Who it’s for.
Farm shops, bakeries, greengrocers, delis, butchers and florists: businesses whose customers order ahead and collect. Most of them don’t need a full online shop. They need people to choose a time, pay online or on collection, and turn up to an order that’s ready.
WooCommerce can be bent into that shape, but it takes a stack of extensions and a lot of setting up. BoxCart is built for that one job, so it works the way a collection shop does from the moment it’s installed.
How I built it.
The decisions that shaped it, and what they mean for the shops using it.
-
No WooCommerce underneath
BoxCart runs its own products, orders and checkout. That keeps it quick, avoids clashes with other plugins and means one thing to keep up to date, not five.
-
Slots that can’t overbook
Every collection slot has a limit and a cut-off, such as 1pm the day before, so a shop never promises more than it can pack.
-
Through WordPress.org review
Every plugin in the directory is checked by hand for security and code quality before it’s listed. BoxCart has been there since June 2026.
-
A free version that’s complete
Free isn’t a trial. Pro, with multiple locations, Stripe card payments and reporting, is built as a separate add-on, so the free plugin stands on its own.
-
Looks right in any theme
Its styles are self-contained, so a theme can’t accidentally break the storefront, and over 195 settings let a shop match its own brand.
-
Emails customers trust
Seven emails, from the order confirmation to status updates and cancellations, each with a live preview and a test send.
Behind the counter.
